Wednesday, November 03, 2021 – The Department of Communication Science, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Unsri held a workshop with the main topic “Using Atlas TI 9 for Qualitative Data Analysis and Literature Review”, which also inviting a speaker who expert in their field, Ebrahim Panah, Ph.D. as Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of CAB, University College of Yayasan Pahang Malaysia.
In this Workshop, Faisal Nomaini, S.Sos., M.Sc. as Secretary of the Department of Communication Science, Faculty of Social & Political Science, Sriwijaya University gave a opening speech, in which he hoped that with this workshop activity by inviting Ebrahim Panah, Ph.d. as a researcher in the Department of Communication Science, Fisip Unsri, can be a opportunity to learn about the importance of qualitative research for researchers for the advancement of research activities in the Department of Communication Science, Unsri.
The next opening speech was continued by Dr. Andries Lionardo. M.Si. as the Head of the Department of Communication Science, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences Unsri, He gave a opening speech, in which he hoped that this workshop could be a place for the advancement of Department,of Communication Science in the future.
The Workshop was opened directly by Prof. Dr. Alfitri, M.Si. As the Dean of FISIP UNSRI, in his opening remarks he expressed his gratitude for the time and presence of Mr. Ebrahim Panah, Ph.D. .
After the opening, this activity was guided by Erlisa Saraswati, S.KPM., M.Sc. as Moderator. Followed by the presentation of the material by the resource person then continued with a question and answer session and discussion between the resource person and the workshop participants. This workshop activity raised the topic about “Using IT Atlas 9 for Qualitative Data Analysis and Literature Review”. The main purpose of this workshop is to learn about computer assisted qualitative data analysis with Atlas.TI. Because currently qualitative research is still less interested. Hoping after all researchers and participant join this workshop, the interest of them appeared to do qualitative research.
Ebrahim Panah, Ph.D. explained that the TI Atlas has been known as an important tool that facilitates researchers to assist the analysis of qualitative research data, for example an analysis of literature. This software turn qualitative data is more visual, portable, and also eases the process of analytical discussion in researchers. The resource person also explained that this software is supporting the analysis of qualitative data such as literature research, document analysis, and also analysis of transcript of interviews. Therefore, Atlas.TI can be very useful for researchers.
This workshop activity was organized by the Department of Communication, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Sriwijaya University together with the Communication Productivity idea 2021 committee, through the Zoom Clouds Meeting Application, which was attended by a total of 300 participants.
The activity is expected to increase knowledge and insight more broadly for students of communication science in the field of scientific research and at the same time as a forum to introduce the Department of Communication Science of Fisip Unsri more broadly to the public. This activity is carried out at no charge from the participants. This workshop activity ended with a photo session with the resource persons, the Dean of FISIP UNSRI, the Head of the Department and the Secretary of the Department of Communication Science, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Unsri, Lecturers, invited guests and also the participants (Fadila).
